Dreweatts is thrilled to announce a landmark sale of works by the renowned Russian jeweller Fabergé taking place on Wednesday 19 March 2025.  Featuring over 100 lots, "The Mastery of Fabergé, Jewellery & Objects of Vertu" presents an extraordinary opportunity to acquire pieces from one of the most celebrated luxury houses in history.

The collection predominantly hails from a distinguished British private collection and showcases a variety of Fabergé's signature designs, including jewellery, objets d'art, and rare accessories.  Among the highlights are two newly attributed Fabergé pieces, unearthed through meticulous research conducted by Dreweatts’ experts.

New Discoveries

The first rediscovered piece is an aquamarine and diamond pendant (Lot 17). The pendant was left to its current owner by her mother, whose Russian friend escaped St. Petersburg in 1918, smuggling her jewellery in the hem of her dress. A scratched inventory number on the pendant’s gallery matched an entry in Fabergé’s Imperial Cabinet Ledgers from 1912, documenting its creation as a gift from the Imperial family.

The second remarkable piece is an enamel and diamond flower basket pendant (Lot 69), previously unrecognised as Fabergé. Research revealed its design in Fabergé’s St. Petersburg archives dated 1909, with matching details in the renowned book Fabergé: Lost and Found by A. Kenneth Snowman. This discovery underscores the unparalleled craftsmanship synonymous with Fabergé.

A Testament to Fabergé's Mastery 

The sale also features an exceptional array of works by Fabergé’s most celebrated workmasters, including Feodor Afanasiev, Henrik Wigstrom, and Michael Perchin. Key highlights include a nephrite, enamel and ruby pill box (Lot 61), once owned by a European royal family; an Imperial red enamel vesta case (Lot 62), with provenance tracing back to Grand Duchess Xenia Alexandrovna; a yellow sapphire and diamond pendant (Lot 16), housed in its original Wartski case; and a gem-set enamel egg pendant (Lot 105), attributed to Michael Perkhin, showcasing Fabergé’s legendary guilloché technique.
