For forty years the name Bloomsbury Auctions (now incorporated into Forum Auctions) has been synonymous with offering the broadest range of auction and valuation services across all books, manuscripts, prints and other works on paper specialisms. From its foundation by Lord John Kerr, Frank Herrmann and David Stagg in 1983 and throughout the multitude of successful sales that have since followed, Bloomsbury has gained universal respect for the quality of the research and cataloguing that is applied to all works offered for sale, their frequency of sales and the delightful mix of professionalism and approachability of their staff.
In 2010 the firm came under the umbrella of Dreweatts and, following a brief period of ownership by Stanley Gibbons plc, Bloomsbury narrowed its focus to a series of sale categories from new offices in Pall Mall, holding twice yearly auctions of Western Manuscripts and Miniatures in early July and December, and twice yearly Islamic and Near Eastern Books and Manuscripts sales in London’s two Islamic weeks.
Now owned by the highly respected Gurr Johns art advisory business, Dreweatts and Bloomsbury Auctions have again expanded following the recent merger with book specialists Forum Auctions, which sees many former colleagues re-united. Under Forum Auctions’ Managing Director Rupert Powell, we again offer a comprehensive auction calendar with 50 sales a year covering the full range of antiquarian and modern books, manuscripts and letters, maps, photographs and other works on paper. For more information on our auctions please visit the Forum Auctions website.
If we can be of any assistance in bringing your book or other works on paper collections to market, valuing such material, or if you feel that this is a collecting area that might pique your interest, we would be delighted to hear from you.
