Dreweatts offers British & European Ceramics & Glass in the four annual auctions of Fine Furniture and the six annual auctions of Interiors. Up to 100 carefully selected and curated lots are offered in each auction, and with respect to the pieces offered in the Interiors auctions these are assembled to create the Country House look.
Single owner groups of ceramics and glass are also offered in the Interiors auctions.
Pieces in this category date from the 17thcentury to c. 1900 and can be both highly practical when used at the dining table as well as beautiful to look at when created as a work of art.
British Ceramics include great 18thcentury porcelain factories such as Chelsea, Worcester, Bow, Liverpool and Derby as well as Welsh porcelain and through to English delft and Staffordshire pottery, including Wedgwood, amongst others. The 19thcentury is covered by manufacturers such as Minton, Coalport and Spode.
In the area of European porcelain, Germanic output, such as Meissen, is consistently on offer, complimented by pieces from Sevrès, Paris, Dresden porcelains and the tin-glazed earthenwares of Europe, including Delft, faience and maiolica.
Collecting of 18th century English drinking glasses remains the backbone of British and European Glass, combined with continued popularity for the products of the great mainstay of European glass production, Bohemia and its popularity with the Persian market.
