Lafleur ‘82 or Lafite ‘82? This is the dilemma facing wine connoisseurs when perusing our 27th September catalogue. Rarely does one find the breadth of iconic Chateaux and vintages in one immaculate cellar. Dreweatts is honoured to bring this collection to auction, offering devotees of Bordeaux and Vintage Champagne exceptional rarities to embellish their own cellars.
The superlative spectrum of Bordeaux begins with Petrus 1959, swiftly followed by a complete case of Mouton 1961 and Petrus 1970. The focal point of the collection is the legendary 1982 vintage, featuring Lafite, Mouton, Haut Brion, Lafleur and Petrus – all in original cases – and Cheval Blanc 1982 in bottle and magnum. 1983, now celebrating its 40th year, offers a wealth of choice including Mouton, Palmer, Cheval Blanc, Petrus and Lafleur. The trophy for 1999 Pauillac would be a genuine contest between Lafite, Pichon Lalande and Lynch Bages. The new millennium brought another landmark vintage to rival 1982 – the outstanding 2000 vintage – and collectors will be torn between Calon Segur, Lynch Bages, Grand Puy Lacoste and Pontet Canet. Whether you have a penchant for Left or Right Bank Bordeaux, this sale presents fabulous opportunities.
No cellar would be complete without Champagne, and here we are blessed with an abundance of Grande Marque vintage cuvees. Highlights include 1988 Louis Roederer Cristal Rose, 1988 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill in majestic magnum format, 1996 Billecart Salmon, Cuvee Nicolas-Francois Billecart, and Krug spanning 1976 to 1995.
All the wines in this collection were kept in a meticulously monitored, temperature and humidity controlled, purpose-built cellar and amassed over the years through auction and private acquisition.
Dreweatts’ specialists carried out inspection and packing of the wines in-situ before they were moved to our temperature-controlled storage at London City Bond. We would be happy to arrange a shipping quote, including international shipping, through our trusted logistics partners. Should you wish to obtain more detailed photographs or information about any lots, please contact the department.
All lots are offered Duty Paid lying at London City Bond, Eton Park.
This is a live online auction with an auctioneer. The auction will take place on Wednesday 27 September (starting at 10.30am BST) at our sister auction company – Forum Auctions, but please note all wine and spirits are stored off-site at LCB Eton Park.
