Dreweatts announces the opening of its new London office at 16-17 Pall Mall, St James's.
Donnington Priory will continue to be the main auction location for the business however, the firm recognises the importance and convenience of a central London location for its UK and international clients.
The London office will host valuations by appointment, exhibitions and events, and will be the base for Bloomsbury Auctions' Western and Oriental Manuscripts and Miniatures department.
Commenting on the London opening, George Bailey, Managing Director, Dreweatts, said: 'We are extremely pleased to announce our new London location. Pall Mall is an address known throughout the world and our business is in very good company with world class art galleries, historic palaces and beautiful parks all close neighbours. We look forward to welcoming both existing and new clients to the Pall Mall office for weekly valuation days and exhibitions of highlights from our upcoming auctions.'
Dr. Timothy Bolton, Head of Manuscripts, Bloomsbury Auctions, commented, 'For the manuscript collector this building is hallowed ground. It is one of a tiny handful of addresses in London which are synonymous with the history of our trade as it was the premises of the bookdealers W.H. Robinson during the period they purchased and began the dispersal of the library of Sir Thomas Phillipps - the greatest single manuscript collector to have lived. Bloomsbury Auctions is proud to be the only auction house anywhere in the world to hold regular sales specialised in this important category, and we will carry forward our part of this history with our two regular summer and winter sales in early July and December'.
