Dreweatts has proudly been working with Art on a Postcard since 2020, hosting their auctions to help raise invaluable funds for The Hepatitis C Trust. Art on a Postcard is now back with their Winter Auction, once again offering you the opportunity to bid on and own a mini masterpiece by an outstanding contemporary artist. This is a timed online auction running from 27 October - 15 November.
The auction features a curated collection of emerging and established artists, including national treasure Grayson Perry CB RA, Brooklyn-based surreal artist Clayton Schiff who is listed as being ‘ultra-contemporary’, emerging talent Caroline Wong, who is currently soaring in popularity, and British artist Gavin Turk who has donated a piece which incorporates his current project, Portrait of an Egg.
Art on a Postcard are always championing emerging young artists; this Auction includes works by Miyeon Yi current RCA student, whose work depicts everyday objects and the memory attached to them; Zurich-based Orlando Marosini whose colourful, energetic works are inspired by artists such as Basquiat and de Kooning; Rose Electra Harris, who won the Bainbridge Open at The Art Academy Prizes (2018) recently had a solo exhibition at Greatorex Studios, London; and Glasgow-based Isaac Aldridge who strives to explore the post digital in his bold and unexpected paintings.
The Hepatitis C Trust is the national charity for people with hepatitis C. It is a patient-led and patient-run organisation; most of its board, staff and volunteers have had hepatitis C themselves. The Trust campaigns for improvements in awareness, testing and diagnosis for hepatitis C, and fights for access to treatment and high quality care for people affected by hepatitis C. It prides itself on its innovative approach to charity work, including starting the Art on a Postcard auctions in 2014 and building the brand as a fundraising tool. For the Winter Auction over 200 hand-picked artists have submitted works, with bidding starting at £50 to raise money for the invaluable work of The Hepatitis C Trust and their campaign to eliminate hepatitis C in the UK by the year 2030.
'This auction is dedicated to Mark Peppé who died on June 24 2022 which was also his 88th birthday. Mark took part in every winter auction since we started in 2014, raising thousands of pounds for The Hepatitis C Trust. His submissions were an array of intimate family portraits, copies of old masters and brilliant colourful abstracts. After training as a figurative painter under Coldstream at The Slade, Mark's abstracts were an enjoyable departure from his customary style. He'll be massively missed not just by us but by many of you who will have followed our auctions over the years.'
~ Gemma Peppé, Director of Art on a Postcard
This is a timed online auction running from Thursday 27 October - Tuesday 15 November 2022.
Bidding starts at £50. There is no buyer's premium applicable on lots in this auction.
Please do not bid on artwork in our Art on a Postcard auctions if you intend on selling the artwork after you have purchased it. This auction has been organised for charity and all artworks have been generously donated by the artists to raise money for the Hepatitis C Trust. When the work produced for the charity is sold on the secondary market it damages our relationship with the artist and prevents us from fundraising. ~ Art on a Postcard
