On Tuesday 18 June we held our auction of Fine Jewellery, Silver, Watches and Objects of Vertu. The auction featured an exciting selection of Bulgari Serpenti watches from a private collection, a stunning pair of Cartier brooches from Eltham Palace and a charming variety of animalier jewels.
With lively bidding in the saleroom, on the phone and online, the auction achieved £1,040,100 and nearly 50% of the lots selling above high estimate.
Commenting on the sale, Head of Jewellery, Charlotte Peel said, “We are delighted with the results of today’s Fine Jewellery, Silver, Watches & Objects of Vertu auction, with fantastic results across all categories. One of the auction's standout moments was the sale of two exquisite Cartier brooches from Eltham Palace, each embodying a unique blend of historical significance and intricate craftsmanship. The brooches, adorned with diamonds, sapphires, and tourmalines, sold for £23,940, highlighting the enduring appeal of Cartier's classic designs.
The important private collection of Bulgari jewels from an East Coast vendor saw strong competition, with the Tubogas collar necklace (Lot 132) more than tripling its presale estimate, selling for £37,700 and the beautiful enamel Serpenti cover lot (Lot 136) achieving £87,700.
In addition to jewellery, the auction included an extensive collection of luxury watches from renowned brands like Cartier, Patek Philippe and Omega. Notable sales included a Cartier bracelet watch (Lot 140), which attracted competitive bidding and ultimately sold for well above its estimated value.
The silver section of the auction was equally successful, featuring a range of Georgian and Victorian silverware. A George II silver peg tankard and a pair of French candlesticks were among the highlights, drawing considerable attention from collectors of antique silver.”
