Taking place on Wednesday 4 August, we have our auction of Jewellery, Silver, Watches, Pens and Luxury Accessories. The auction features over 375 lots of antique and modern pieces, including a lovely selection of jewellery. Ahead of the auction, we take a look at few highlights.
To start we want to highlight Lot 195, featured on the catalogue cover. This is a beautiful Arts and Crafts opal doublet and pink tourmaline dress ring, dating to circa 1930.
It is designed in the manner of Bernard Instone, with the oval cabochon opal doublet panel claw set within a leaf and flower head surround. It is then finished with circular cut pink tourmalines at the cardinal points.
Two further highlights are these lovely Victorian pieces. Firstly, Lot 342 this diamond star which can be worn as either a brooch or pendant. The six-point star is set with old cut and rose cut diamonds, with knife edge bars set with old cut diamond accents in between. Then we have Lot 125, this diamond crescent pendant, set with graduated old cut diamonds.
From the selection of more modern items, we have twelve lots of Georg Jensen jewellery (Lots 196-208). Georg Jensen (1866-1935) was educated in both the fine arts and metal smithing and he opened his first workshop in 1904 in Copenhagen. The beautiful Art Nouveau designs highlighted in this selection, show the work of numerous designers working for Georg Jensen, including Regitze Overgaard, Vivianna Torun, Ove Wendt, Nanna Ditzel, Henry Pilstrup, Henning Koppel, Hans Hansen, Bent Knudsen, as well as Georg Jensen himself.
