In our upcoming auction of Fine Wine, Champagne, Vintage Port, and Spirits on 22 October, we are delighted to present twelve exceptional lots from Kistler Vineyards. Featuring a diverse selection of red and white wines from multiple vineyards and spanning the past 15 years, this represents a rare and exclusive opportunity at Dreweatts. Here, Senior Wine Consultant, Mark Robertson, tells us more about these impressive wines.
It is always said that the definition of insanity is doing “the same thing over and over again and expecting different results”. The other maybe, with all due respect to the wonderful collector who owns these wines, is saying “I think I have too much Kistler”.
I was first introduced to this estate twenty-five years ago and I have never forgotten first trying these wines. On an antiquated St James’s street we were indoctrinated to put the wines of Burgundy on a pedestal, but this glittering white and gold label of Californian sunshine showed us how naïve we were.
Kistler identified some the greatest vineyard sites across Northern California and planted vines taken from a single Burgundian clone of Grand Cru Chardonnay. A winemaking eye still glances towards Burgundy - these melt in the mouth wines are ethereal, complex, rich, mineral with subtle and beautifully entwined toasty buttery oak. Their monumental reputation is rightly deserved.
We are privileged and excited to be able to give people the rare opportunity to buy wine from Kistler Estates, which were initially only offered directly to private clients. With multiple vineyards and different vintages on offer, this is a unique and exceptional opportunity for Dreweatts. All wines were shipped directly from The Kistler Estate and have been stored in a temperature-controlled cellar ever since.
Northern Europeans always feel better with a little sun, and this is a match made in heaven.
This is a live online auction with an auctioneer.
