On Saturday 5 October we team up again with Mary Hare School for our Charity Valuation Day, raising money for deaf children across the UK.
Bring along your paintings, jewellery, watches, silver, clocks, European and Asian ceramics and works of art, and antiques for valuation and expert insight from our team headed by TV's Jonathan Pratt (Bargain Hunt) and Cristian Beadman (Antiques Roadshow), and other Dreweatts' specialists.
The valuation day will run from 10am-3pm and is to be held at Mill Hall - the former Officer's Mess for the American airforce based at Greenham - currently home of Mary Hare Primary School.
Jonathan, Cristian and the team will be ready to value your treasures, in return for a small donation. We will also have highlights on view from our upcoming auctions of Jewellery, Silver, Watches, Pens and Luxury Accessories on 23 October, as well as from our Modern and Contemporary Art auction on 16 October.
In addition to this, our experts will also be giving talks, providing insight knowledge into the auction world and antiques collecting. The day will run as follows:
Tea and coffee will be available, as well as light lunches.
All proceeds from the day will go towards the Mary Hare Primary School Appeal (registered charity number 1002680). Entry with one item for valuation is £5. Entry plus 3 items for valuation is £10. Children under 18 are free. You can purchase your tickets before the day here.
Dreweatts will also be donating the vendor commission of any items consigned to auction on the day to the appeal.
This is the second of two events that we have organised in support of the Primary School Appeal. At the beginning of September, we held a Charity Art Auction in collaboration with Mary Hare School and Pippa Middleton, with over 25 artists, including the children themselves, donating works. This event raised £32,000 for the appeal.
Mary Hare plans to build a brand new, bespoke Primary School for deaf children on its site near Newbury, Berkshire. The whole project will cost £6 million and the School aims to raise half of this (£3 million) from a fundraising appeal and the rest from the sale of the existing Primary School building, Mill Hall. To date the Mary Hare Foundation has raised over £2,050,000 towards its appeal to raise funds towards the building of the new primary school. Planning permission for the project was granted in August last year and, subject to raising the funds required, building work on the new school will begin next year. Peter Gale, Mary Hare School Principal, said: "We hope that local people will come to support us with our Antiques Valuation Day. I shall be bringing some of the more interesting items we found at Arlington Manor when we first moved here in 1946. I am not expecting them to make us rich but it will be interesting to learn about their history."
We look forward to seeing you at the event and thank you for your support in helping us raise funds for this great cause.
