This September, we are pleased to present our Fine Silver & The Art of Dining auction, celebrating the continued appeal of finely crafted silver alongside the art of the modern table. We are particularly grateful to Summerill & Bishop for lending their beautiful table linen, which features throughout the catalogue. Their distinctive designs bring colour, pattern and contemporary flair to each setting, offering inspiration for creating dramatic, elegant tables for modern dining. Together, silver, porcelain, glass and textiles can be combined to create memorable settings that are as individual as those who gather around them.
Inspired by the Table
Founded in 1994 by lifelong friends June Summerill and Bernadette Bishop, Summerill & Bishop began as a small homeware shop in Notting Hill with a simple vision to create an inspiring space filled with beautiful, practical pieces for the home. Passionate cooks and hosts, the pair believed the dining table was the heart of every home, where food, conversation and lasting memories are shared. Their carefully curated collection of artisan tableware and linens quickly established the brand as a destination for timeless, understated design.
Continuing the Legacy
Following Bernadette's passing in 2014, her son Seb Bishop took over as CEO and Creative Director, preserving the founders' philosophy while evolving the business. Inspired by a hand drawn flower discovered in one of Bernadette's cookbooks, the brand introduced its now iconic linen collections, transforming the tablecloth into a statement piece that combines art, craftsmanship and functionality.
A Lasting Influence
Today, Summerill & Bishop is internationally recognised for its distinctive table linens, handcrafted tableware and collaborations with artists and designers. Still based in Notting Hill, the brand remains dedicated to its founding belief that a beautifully laid table brings people together, celebrating everyday moments through thoughtful design.
