Senior Specialist, House Sales and Private Collections

Peter joined Dreweatts in March 2024 as Senior Specialist in House Sales and Private Collections with a focus on English furniture and works or art.

He enjoyed a 26 year career in Christie’s furniture department working on all manner of valuations and auction sales in London, Europe and the Americas.  Among notable projects were sales for the Bank of England; Two Ducal Collections, Woburn Abbey; Simon Sainsbury; The Spencer House sale; and in 2018 for the tercentenary of Thomas Chippendale’s birth. As Head of English Furniture Peter was involved in the sale of stock from the London dealer Apter Fredericks and in New York the collection of Ann and Gordon Getty. In 2022 he oversaw the sale of the outstanding Warren Hastings suite of ivory seat furniture for £3.762m. Peter has particular interests in 18^th century English furniture and goods associated with the China and East India trade, and a fascination with the manufacture and history of an object and its journey from creation to the present day through the hands of collectors and dealers.
