Auction Results | Fine Clocks, Barometers and Scientific Instruments | Thursday 26 March 2026

On Thursday 26 March, Dreweatts held its Fine Clocks, Barometers and Scientific Instruments auction, presenting an exceptional array of horological and scientific works. Highlights ranged from an exquisitely decorated Meissen porcelain-cased mantel clock to a historically significant verge pocket watch with a movement by Thomas Tompion, widely regarded as the “father of English clock and watchmaking. This curated sale of 117 Lots achieved a total of £264,655 which represented 125% of the presale estimate and an 84% sell through rate.

Commenting on the results Dreweatts’ Head of Clocks, Leighton Gillibrand said “Yet again our approach of offering a finely catalogued and curated selection fine timepieces and instruments alongside a seasonal offering of Fine Furniture and Works of Art has paid dividends. The overall result exceeded expectations, driven by strong engagement from specialist collectors as well as cross-market buyers, prices were strong and the selling rate market-beating.”
