Dreweatts' links to Newbury and its surrounding villages date back to October 1759 when it opened its first auction room on the Market Place. Things have moved on a bit since then but our links to the local community are as important as ever. Dreweatts is thrilled to join the team of Dragons supporting the amazing and inspiring work done by Newbury Soup Kitchen.
Newbury Soup Kitchen is dedicated to supporting marginalized individuals and those facing poverty in Newbury and the surrounding areas. By spending time with those in need, they provide support, encouragement and empathy, helping individuals improve their circumstances and future outlook. They offer a wide range of services including healthy food provisions and outreach programmes, addressing the whole person - physically, emotionally, and socially.
By gaining trust and building relationships, they empower individuals to grow in confidence and make better life choices. Their team of committed volunteers and outreach workers work tirelessly to ensure vulnerable members of society receive the help they need to find their voice.
Their vision is to establish a community centre in Newbury where anyone in need can access care and support, fostering a path toward a healthier, safer, and happier future. They believe no one should be homeless or struggling.
It's not just soup! Newbury Soup Kitchen provides a freshly cooked and prepared hot three-course meal every Thursday, Wednesday and Saturday evening for the homeless, vulnerably housed, less fortunate and the street homeless of Newbury and West Berkshire. This is far from as simple as it sounds; the preparation and time involved to cater for nearly 150 meals each week takes a team of volunteers to pull off, but it doesn’t stop there.
Newbury Soup Kitchen are fortunate to have a team of staff and volunteers who provide professional and caring help and support. Additional services available include:
