This January, Dreweatts is delighted to unveil something truly different and exciting from the Wine Department. The first auction of 2026 presents a vibrant collection of 117 mixed lots which are offered without reserve.
The previous owner, a discerning collector with an excellent palate for fine wines from around the world, assembled a superb cellar encompassing both top-tier investment bottles and high-quality wines for everyday entertaining. Sourced from leading UK merchants and previously stored in a temperature-controlled private cellar as well as LCB, this selection offers exceptional variety of taster cases in abundance.
Furthermore, Dreweatts is delighted to announce it will be donating 50% of the buyer’s premium from the auction to the Newbury Soup Kitchen. Please do browse and bid with confidence.
Newbury Soup Kitchen is dedicated to supporting marginalised individuals and those facing poverty in Newbury and the surrounding areas. By spending time with those in need, they provide support, encouragement and empathy, helping individuals improve their circumstances and future outlook. They offer a wide range of services including healthy food provisions and outreach programmes, addressing the whole person - physically, emotionally, and socially.
Ahead of the sale, Senior Wine Consultant Mark Robertson shares his thoughts on what makes this auction unmissable.
Our 2026 curtain raiser in January offers something very different from the wine department. While we have tried to apply a sense of order, each case still carries a spirit of fun, a touch of nonconformity, and passion permeates every case. This sale presents a one time opportunity. It is truly a date worth circling in your diary.
This is an auction for everyone. Attempting to characterise it in a few sentences is impossible and would go against the very concept of the sale but if you have a fondness for France, idolise Italy, or are smitten with Spain, you certainly won’t want to miss out.
This is a live online auction with an auctioneer. The auction will take place on Tuesday 20 January (starting at 10.30am GMT) at Dreweatts Newbury, but please note all wine and spirits are stored off-site at LCB Eton Park. Bidding is available online, by telephone, by commission bids or in person at Dreweatts. Please contact Dreweatts to register all commission bids or telephone bids by 12 noon GMT the day before the sale.
