The auction was held in collaboration with Watts 1874, the fifth-generation family firm renowned for its exceptional fabrics, wallpapers and murals. Throughout the catalogue, furniture and works of art were presented alongside a selection of Watts 1874 fabrics, including Hampstead Verdure, Constantinople Terracotta and Sainval Langau Green. These carefully conceived settings provided a striking context for the works, demonstrating how historic furniture and works of art can be thoughtfully integrated into contemporary interiors.

Bringing together works from antiquity through to the contemporary, the sale reflected the breadth and enduring significance of the decorative arts. Among the notable results was a late 18th or early 19th century gilt bronze Imperial Egyptian porphyry twin-handled labrum or tazza, which achieved an impressive £35,810.

David Williams-Ellis’s bronze sculpture Sunrise was another highlight, realising £30,720. Ahead of the auction, we had the pleasure of visiting Williams-Ellis at his Cotswolds studio, where he shared insights into his life and career, discussing his artistic practice, the development of his work and some of his most significant commissions.
